Games

Empyreal Nocturne : Official Site : Download

Description

Empyreal Nocturne is a game about a god bird commanding a large flock against huge aerial monsters called Hydrae. The entirety of the game takes place in an expansive sky world filled with clouds. The game is David and Goliath-esc and makes heavy use of scale.

The game is highly inspired by Shadow of the Colossus and the game play is similar to that of Rez and Panzer Dragoon.

  Development

August 2006 - Current

My buddy Reed and I made this as our Senior DigiPen game. We started the design for this game pretty early and it wasn't until about October that we started actually writing the game engine. Although we started development a bit late I think our combined experience and close work habits have really given us leverage to get a lot done in a short period of time. I act as Technical Director and Co-Designer, although the titles are kind of silly on a two man team.

My work on the game includes:

  • Game Framework
  • 3D Engine(DirectX)
  • Cameras
  • Particle Systems
  • Hydra Construction
  • Targeting

Kannonwagens : Official Site : Download ( 11.3 Mb )

Description

Kannonwagens is a 3D, cel-shaded tank game filled with run-and-gun action. Use combinations of the three weapons to punish your opponents in the single-player levels or on a LAN with your friends. The game features two unique worlds, three different weapons and sixteen different tank skins.

The visuals of the game are similar to that of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and the game play is inspired by Twisted Metal Black.

  Development

October 2005 - June 2006

The game was developed during my Junior year at DigiPen with 3 other team members. This was a really fun game to make considering we had really good documents to work with and knew exactly what we wanted to do. Most of the development details can be found in the dev section of the games official site. I acted as Technical Director for the project.

My work on the game includes:

  • Game Framework
  • 3D Graphics (OpenGL)
  • Dev Console
  • Special Effects
  • Tanks and Environments

Releveled : Download ( 31.8 Mb )

Description

Releveled is a 2D platformer and puzzle game where you try to successfully lead the character to the end of the level through a series of traps. You accomplish this by controlling the character indirectly by placing blocks that cause him to jump, change direction et cetera.

The game play is similar to that of Lemmings or Mario vs.. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis.

  Development

September 2004 - April 2005

The game was developed during my Sophomore year at DigiPen with 3 other team members. Most of the development went pretty smoothly although I must say I learned more about what not to do then what to do. I acted as Technical Director for the project.

My work on the game includes:

  • Game Framework
  • 2D Graphics (DirectX)
  • Dev Console
  • Level Editor

Syntax Attack : Download ( 5.4 Mb )

Description

Syntax Attack is an ASCII text based game where the object is to type falling words before they obliterate the world. The words are being fired by an advanced intergalactic species who are trying to destroy Earth. The game features eight different cities, two games modes and an awesome final boss battle.

The game play is a mix between that of Missile Command and Typing of the Dead .

  Development

January 2004 - April 2004

This was the first real game that I worked on and was also the game with the shortest development time. Unlike the other DigiPen games, this was a one semester Freshmen game. We didn't have any type of versioning system so the development was a frustrating to say the least. I acted as Product Manager for the project.

My work on the game includes:

  • Collision/Response
  • Level File Format
  • Level Art
  • Word Lists
  • Product Materials
